What is your name, the name of your book, the genre and if it is fiction, or non-fiction? Liz Ashe Havrilla – One Step at a Time: I Survived One of the Most Dangerous Hurricanes
Tell the readers a little bit about yourself. Let them get to know you. I am a realtor broker and I reside in Slidell, La. I live to tell my story after not evacuating from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Who published your book and the year. If you are self-published, say that and be proud of it. Open Door Publishing Company in 2018. My book is available in paperback, both in black and white, and in color. Also, the book is available in Ebook and soon will be available as an audible book.
What is the reason you wanted to become a writer? I had a story to tell. Honestly, I never considered myself a writer. I struggled at it, but by the grace of God, I found a fabulous editor in Dr. Melissa Caudle. She helped me through the entire process.
Are there any authors who influenced you the most? If so, who and why? I’d have to say the Bible.
Who is your target audience? Why? Anyone who needs an uplifting story. I wrote this book so I could help others who went through a natural disaster and have lost everything. I want them to know there is hope and that God will not forsake you.
Tell the readers what your book is about. It is all right to use your book’s synopsis, but if you make it personable, you are more likely to engage your reader. This is an autobiography of what happened to me when I didn’t evacuate from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It is action-packed.
Tell us a little about your protagonist – the main character. I am the protagonist as this is my story.
What was the most challenging part of writing this book?: The most challenging part was getting what happened to me into written form. It was a mess when I gave it to my editor, Dr. Melissa Caudle. But, she was so patient and knew exactly what to do.
Where did you get your inspiration for the plot and the characters of your book if is is fiction. If it is non-fiction, where did your inpiration come from?: from my experience
What would you hope a reader would get by reading your book?: I would hope the reader would find comfort from my story and know that they are not alone. I am a firm believer that God doesn’t put us through anything we can’t handle. He answers our prayers.
